Epic visit to the little Venice of India

Epic visit to the little Venice of India

When one imagines Rajasthan ,flashes of sandy dunes of Bikaner and Jaisalmer, rocky Jodhpur and mountaineous kumbhalgarh comes alive infront of my eyes . But I was taken aback when I stepped on one of the exotic cities of India- UDAIPUR…

I started my day afresh by taking a boat ride to Lake Pichola .The serene calm waters presented a picturesque view. The gondola takes you near the JAGMANDIR PALACE, as well as JAG NIWAS PALACE, casting its reflection on the turquoise waters surrounding it completely. It is also known as LAKE PALACE. It emerges from the lake like a ghostly apparition. The view of the white floating summer palace adds to the mystique of the lake. This crumbling hotel was restored and converted into a luxury heritage hotel in 1971 by the famous Taj Group of Hotels. It is believed that Shah Jahan stayed here when he rebelled against his father ,mughal emperor Jahangir. This palace is one of the ten best heritage hotels in india. The undulating view of Aravalli’s and the flowing curtains, the subdued lighted up courtyard, a lavish dinner on the rooftop offer a restrained sense of opulence.

Heart of the city : –

While passing through the heart of the city I noticed very peculiar , the houses had elaborate frescoes drawn at their entrance and how much everyone loved and respected Rana Pratap ,the heroic son of Mewar. I decided to go on a shopping spree , as I had to buy some soveniers for my loved ones. I was completely bowled over by Jaipuri comforters, sarees with sandalwood fragrance, white metal crockery and artifacts and the bright bandhini dupattas. I realised that this city is not only tourist friendly but women friendly as well. This city completely overpowers you in its frenzy, with this I bade adieu to the beautiful city of lakes .

Mewar’s diverse history of ehnic culture: –

Udaipur, boat trip, City Palace and Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel

The palace shows an awe-striking fusion of Mewar’s diverse history of ehnic culture with the European elements of architecture. The meal offered to me was not only sumptuous, but a feast for the eyes!It was prepared by the royal butlers . At JHAROKHA,I tasted my favourite multicuisine food and sipped one of my favourite red wine. It is one of the most sought wedding destinations for hoisting the big fat Indian weddings too . Bond’s famous movie ‘octopussy’ is shot here. It is frequented by an elite clientele . There are many heritage hotels like FATEH PRAKASH PALACE,SHIV –NIWAS PALCE .It offers you a royal treat in this era. other places worth seeing are SHIKAR Bari(hunting place),Sajjangarh (Monsoon palace),Saheliyon ki Bari.etc.
